Scholastic Book Fair

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The 2010 Scholastic Book Fair reached over $17,000 in sales earning the PCPA and Pond Cove School $3,500 in cash profit and over $2,000 worth of Scholastic Reward dollars.

Students, teachers, and families also donated $894 worth of loose change during and prior to the Fair for Scholastic's One For Books program. This means 894 books were donated to Scholastic's charities of choice, $894 was added to the revenue for the fair and $894 was given to the PCPA to spend. Of the $894 given to the PCPA, $375 worth in books was donated to the Center for Grieving Children and the remaining amount was used to purchase books from the wish bags of new staff members and the Media Center.

Scholastic Dollars Maximized While Teachers' Classrooms are Directly Benefited

The PCPA has given each classroom teacher a gift of $50 in Scholastic Reward Dollars to spend at the Scholastic Warehouse Sale in Saco. A portion of the monies received from the Pond Cove Book Fair was in the form of Scholastic Reward Dollars which can only be used on Scholastic products. After purchasing Scholastic products for various PCPA funtions, it was decided that the balance of $1,400 in Scholastic Reward Dollars would be given to the 28 classroom teachers. They will redeem their dollars at the Scholastic Warehouse Sale in December 2010. Between the great discounts and the coupons that teachers receive when registering for the sale, their gifts should go far!

The PCPA Scholastic Book Fair Committee, co-chaired by Christine Mackenzie and Mary Ellen Carignan, would like to sincerely thank everyone who volunteered and shopped at the Fair.
