FRIENDS IN TRAINING (FIT) PROGRAM PARTNERS WITH COMMUNITY SERVICES
Pond Cove Parents Association (PCPA) will collaborate with Community Services to offer the F.I.T. (Friends in Training) program from May 3 through June 2. This is a weekly program designed to provide training and build endurance of our K-4 students planning to participate in the Pond Cove 5K Challenge on June 5th. The program takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 to 3:55 p.m.
The Details:
- F.I.T. is a quick-start program for grades K-4 designed to teach children healthy running skills. F.I.T. will be
held May 3rd to June 2nd (The Pond Cove Challenge is Sunday, June 5th).
- Total of 10 sessions – Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:00-3:55 (we'll finish in time for the late bus).
- Participants must wear running sneakers (absolutely no crocs, sandals, flip-flops, etc.) and are encouraged to
wear loose/weather-appropriate clothing and to bring a water bottle.
- Cancellations: If it is raining at 1:30 on training day, check your e-mail and/or the Community Services website.
- For the final session on June 2nd, we will run the actual race course for either the Pond Cove Challenge or the
One Mile Dash, based upon individual running goals.
Registration for this program will take place through Community Services. You can register either in person (download the registration form) or on-line. Starting this year, to take part in the F.I.T. program registration is required. Your registration for the F.I.T. program includes the cost of the Pond Cove 5K ($19.00) and/or the One Mile Dash ($13.00).
* * Download the registration form or register online. * *
PLEASE NOTE: In order to maintain a safe runner/trainer ratio, registrations will be capped based on the number of parent volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Deb Braxton.
